What ring size am I? How to measure at home in millimetres

Short answer: measure in millimetres and send us the number. Either measure the inner diameter of a ring that already fits, or wrap a strip of paper around the finger and measure its length. We take it from there and tell you which size of the piece you are looking at fits you — you do not need to work out a conversion yourself.

Why we ask for millimetres instead of a size number

Ring size numbering is not the same everywhere, and a number copied from one chart to another is how most wrong-size orders happen. A measurement in millimetres is a physical fact; it means the same thing in every country. That is why our rings are listed with their own size numbers and why we would rather convert for you than have you guess.

Method 1 — measure a ring you already wear

Take a ring that fits the finger you have in mind. Lay it flat and measure the inner diameter with a ruler or a caliper: edge to edge, straight across the middle of the opening, not including the metal. Read it in millimetres, to the nearest half millimetre if you can. Send us that number.

Two things to watch. Measure the ring that fits the same finger on the same hand — most people differ by a size between left and right. And if the ring is a wide band, say so: a wide band sits tighter than a thin one at the same diameter.

Method 2 — measure the finger

Cut a thin strip of paper, about 5 mm wide. Wrap it snugly around the base of the finger, mark where it overlaps, then lay it flat and measure to the mark in millimetres. That length is the circumference of your finger.

Measure at the end of the day, when fingers are at their largest, and check that the strip can still pass over the knuckle. A ring that fits the base but will not pass the knuckle is no use, and a ring loose enough to clear a large knuckle will spin at the base — if your knuckle is much wider than the base of the finger, tell us, because that changes what we recommend.

What not to rely on

String stretches and gives a reading that is too small. Printed paper sizers only work if the page is printed at exactly 100% scale, which most printers do not do by default. A jeweller will usually measure your finger in a minute, for nothing, and that is still the most reliable option.

Send it to us before you order

Every piece is made to order on the bench in our Istanbul workshop, so the size is chosen at the time of making rather than taken off a shelf. Write to us with your measurement and the piece you have in mind, and we will tell you the size to pick. If you are unsure between two, say so — we would rather answer first than exchange later. You can also read the method on our ring size guide, and browse the rings collection while you wait for our reply.
