A men's ring is worn every day for years. These are the seven things worth checking before you buy one, online or in a shop.
1. Solid silver, not plated
Look for the 925 stamp inside the band. Plated rings wear through at the edges within months. A solid silver ring can be polished, resized and repaired for decades.
2. Weight
Weight tells you how much metal is actually there. A men's ring below about 6 grams is thin; most of our statement rings sit between 10 and 20 grams. Heavier is not automatically better — but a suspiciously light ring at a heavy ring's price is a warning.
3. How the stone is held
A bezel — a rim of metal wrapped around the stone — is the most secure setting for daily wear. Prongs look lighter but catch on clothing and bend. Ask, or look closely at the photographs, before buying a ring with a large stone.
4. Band width and comfort
A wide band feels tighter than a narrow one at the same measured size. If the ring you are buying is 8 mm or wider, consider going half a size up. A rounded inner edge (comfort fit) makes a real difference on a heavy ring.
5. The finish
Oxidised recesses make a pattern readable; a fully polished ring shows scratches sooner. Brushed and matte finishes hide wear best. None of them is better — but know which one you are getting, because it changes how the ring ages.
6. Size, before you order
Measure a ring you already wear, or measure the finger with a paper strip, at the end of the day. Our sizes are Turkish ring sizes; if you know your US or EU size, tell us and we will convert it.
7. Returns and resizing
Ask what happens if the size is wrong. We resize or exchange within our returns window, and for handmade rings this is the question that matters most — a ring that cannot be adjusted is a ring you may never wear.
